Re: pwd on dial up
As far as I know, I am pretty much waiting on Telec0n to process the workorder and get ADSL turned on for my phoneline.
It's nice having our OWN house and not renting! Means I can change things in the house without having a pile of red tape (unless it is structural or involving major modifications to things involving mains electricity).
At least there is more room and a closed in backyard! (so the dog can go out and in as he pleases for the bathroom breaks).
My best guess is prolly a couple of weeks at most, depending how busy people are.

You have to read the fine print on what you can and cant do... but generally you can do what you want inside your house when renovating etc as long as you dont alter anything structural (look in the roof space, if whatever you want to change has anything on top of it connected to the roof its structural) and are "replacing like with like" i.e. changing around the bathroom is ok so long as there is no new plumbing in the walls and you dont move the toilet more than 600mm.
As far as electrics go you can pretty much do what you want so long as you dont touch anything behind the meter/fuse board i.e. you can take out a lighting fixture and replace it with a new one (again read the fine print, and your insurance fine print otherwise you may void your cover). But you must be damn sure you know what your doing cos electricity can be unforgiving, get a good quality tester if you dont have one already, and ALWAYS TURN OFF THE MAINS cos often things arent as they are supposed to be and it is very easy to get a shock, had a few myself and so have my workmates... blown up about $400 worth of tools so far on wires that arent supposed to live. here's DIY electrical guidelines http://www.consumerbuild.org.nz/publish/diy/diylegal-electrical.php
